James C. Molet's debut novel follows the struggle of one young man as he seeks to secure his financial future in a system that constantly applies downward force and battles a drug dealer bent on his absolute destruction. In the heart of Milwaukee, Marcus dreams of attending college - minus the scourge of debt - and building a firm financial foundation. Through misfortune he crosses paths with Caine, a would be drug lord from Chicago who has relocated to the Cream City to build an empire. His name - derived from cocaine - was earned in Chicago, where he cut his teeth in the drug game and in a mere four years, had become the largest cocaine dealer in the city. When all is said and done, and the snow has settled in the Cream City, only one man will remain standing. Through mystery, imagination and humor, James C. Molet weaves personal finance concepts into a tale of danger, deception and avarice.

"Cream City Hustle" was an interesting read that showed a different aspect to the typical "get out of the hood" story. Marcus, the lead character in the story, sells, but he isn't a fool. He is actually a financial genius who is trapped in the lower-class world faced by many people (including the world that I grew up in). I didn't follow Marcus' path in life but I understood it. James Molet is able to share the anger, confusion, and the creativity you need if you only make $7.25 an hour. Most authors can't get that feeling just right. This book does.I was surprised that James Molet, a financial investor, was able to get that level. James Molet captures the language, the vibe, and essence and then is able to translate to "Wall Street" talk in the next sentence and it made perfect sense.I liked that. It gave a deeper intelligence to the character.
In the beginning, I was a little concerned that the book provided too little context and needed to slow down in pacing. As the book continued, things became interesting. I became intrigued by the web of relationships that Marcus gets into as he gets closer to his
As far as the plotline, I was more concerned with Marcus and his goal than the new threat to his "territory". For me, the bigger (and more interesting) conflict was if Marcus would get out of the environment that he so desperately wanted to get out. Marcus was a smart hustler and wanted to see if he got out of the hustle intact to a new level of existence.

Cream City Hustle James C Molet Brian D Tramuel 9780989550543 Books Reviews
LOVE this fiction book! James does a great job of writing a suspense-filled thriller about a young man eager to leave a life of poverty behind for success. The characters are engaging, the story line is believable and the plot is riveting. Highly recommend this.
Mr. Molet has introduced new genre of literature with his book "Creme City Hustle". Blending the grit and danger of inner-city drug hustling with practical personal financial advice, Molet weaves a tale that is both thrilling and educating. While some may find the combination distracting, others will get the benefit of sound investment advice and a well told story.
This well-written book serves as an entertaining discussion on fiscal, physical, and personal responsibility. I highly recommend it for parents first, then to be pass to their kids with plenty of discussion in regards to its lessons.
At first, I was disappointed that the protagonist was on the wrong side of the law. After finishing the book, I realized that there was a lesson there, as well. Parents can use the main character's decision to chase financial security by crossing the line as a lesson that there is no way to get rich quick. The character, Marcus, was lucky - one misstep and he would have been derailed for a long time.
Through the book, Marcus and the author discuss sound fiscal steps that young people should know and practice throughout life. Furthermore, Marcus' lifestyle put a premium on healthy choices.
This book, while entertaining, opens the mind to a responsible way to live. This is a great opportunity to plant the right seeds.
Loved it. Easy reading that kept you going.
Marcus, the protagonist exhibits a combination of street smarts and natural intelligence that serves him well throughout the story as he faces a challenge with the antagonist Caine. The story kept me engaged through each climatic turn. Another point of engagement is how well Mr. Molet presents and incorporates financial terms within the story. During a point of interest Marcus explains to Train (his long-time friend) that he has established an emergency fund. While many of us understand the term, most of us do not have one established. In that respect the book introduces terms we may or may not be familiar with but also shows us how easy (and important) they are to establish and maintain.
The characters in Cream City Hustle are easily recognizable, they represent something we’ve experienced directly or indirectly; support for and from our immediate family, high education cost, feelings of despair, working low income jobs, trust in relationships and perhaps for a small few following a dark path; seeing a means to an end.
The concept of the book is familiar; as it continues the work from the author’s blog Retirement Savvy where he charges us to become fiscal and physically fit.
